Let Google Calendar send an SMS Reminder to Your Cell Phone!

Away from your desk? Google Calendar will text your appointment reminders!

Let's set up your phone and enable SMS in your Google Calendar settings:

  1. Go to your calendar page and click on the Gear at the top right-hand corner and select Settings. Once on the Settings page, click on Mobile Setup at the very top.
  2. Enter your country and telephone number. A Google Calendar verification code will be sent to your phone. Enter the verification code and you will be taken to Reminders and Notifications. Here you may choose how your calendar notifies you by default (plus other options such as a Daily agenda, where you may opt to receive an email with your agenda every day at 5:00am in your current time zone).
  3. Now, when editing an event on your calendar, you will be able to select SMS in the pull-down menu next to Reminders at the bottom of the event.

Note: You may incur charges for SMS messages from your mobile carrier.
