Incredible Auto-Complete. Thanks, Gmail!

Brought to you by: CNET

Google has introduced a magical autocomplete feature for Gmail, which is similar to Gmail's Smart Reply (introduced last year) you see when you reply to messages on your android phone. Though it's not available quite yet, you can try it out by enabling "experimental access" in your settings menu.

Check out an illustration of how it works here.

Why Not Have Students Make the Quizzes?

Students can create quizzes with Google Forms, and by turning on the quiz features, they can add their own feedback to answers. Students gain knowledge from a different perspective because, as many of us know, creating a respectable quiz isn't an easy task! This is also a clever way to flip teaching and learning.

Google Tour Builder for Any Subject
Session brought to you by: Eric Curts

Google's Tour Builder is an easy to use but powerful tool for students to create virtual tours, including locations, images, videos, descriptions, hyperlinks, and more. These tours can be used in any subject area such as retelling the events from a novel, tracing the locations of a historical event, visiting different biomes or landforms around the world, and more. Tours can be viewed by others in Tour Builder, or even imported into Google Earth for a full 3D experience.

Voice Typing: Yes, You Can!

What's the one thing you always want more of?

Time!

Voice Typing, or speech-to-text, will save you lots of time. You can pen your thoughts to text almost anywhere, almost anytime. Sure, it may need a little editing at the end, but the bulk of your thoughts will ultimately be sitting there in a document waiting for you to finish rather than an empty page waiting for you to start. Instead of waiting until you get home while stuck in that traffic jam, put your ideas to paper or dictate that email you want to send out later with voice typing. All you'll have to do is make corrections and copy/paste. You can send texts and tweets, too. The options are limitless.

The average person types around 40 words per minute.
Voice typing = 120 words per minute.

How do you get started? The best way is to try it out when you're alone. That way you'll get over any inhibitions you may have. It might feel a little strange at first, but once you get used to it, you won't feel so self conscious.

Ditch That Textbook has a great article on getting started here:

Getting Started with Android:

Getting Started with iPhone:

You'll need to get used to inserting punctuation with your voice, but that will become second nature in no time!
